I love new music!
It’s really easy for me to say I love new music more than anything else!
New as in fresh… I love to find music that I have never heard before!
Discovering new music is a joy for me!
I guess it has something to do with my talents for creating original music.
It started in my teens when I discovered I could make some pretty cool noise on the instruments we found in a jam pad. Jamming pleased me!
Then – when I got my student loan for college I bought that Marshall Stack and a Fender guitar and found out that I could not only learn and play those chords from AC/DC songs but that I had my own material inside of me which came out on demand! I could write songs! New stuff flowed from my brain!
While I don’t create my own music as much as I used to – I still can’t go a day without listening to music I love as well as music I am in the process of discovering!
I’m a little weirder than most people and have DIVERSE taste in music. I said diverse and not eclectic – because ECLECTIC to me signifies weird and offbeat stuff.
ECLECTIC = BLAND and BORINGĀ in most cases.
I must be wired differently than most people because I find the majority of music that I hear people listen to is boring and unimaginative.
What ever happened to the spirit of Jazz Rock and Progressive music?
And people don’t seem to want new music as much as I do. They want to BUY the cd’s and mp3s of music they already had in tehir libraries… REBUYING…
What about turning on to some new tunes? Discovery of new music?
Sure – there are some metal heads and prog rock fans for sure that like to hear new stuff – but way too much music these days is just plain and simple and boring and old sounding retreads of classic stuff that just won’t go away.
Dave Matthews for example… that stuff just resonate with me. BORING!
It may be jam music – but more like Grateful Dead repetitive and boring and something about it hurts my ears.
Oh well – I can’t expect everyone to like what I like – but I do expect that people will be open and at least give new music a chance!
Do you hunt for new music? New discoveries? Ihope you will do more of that and support new music and artists!
