Another Successful Year For Britney Spears
Britney Spears is rocking the music industry once again. Her album “Circus is the No. 1 album in the country today selling more than 500,000 albums as of December 9, 2008. Her competitors are way below her numbers with Taylor Swift’s Fearless at number 2 selling more than 180,000 copies and Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce selling more than 148, 500 copies. Her manager, Larry Rudolph, tells the Associated Press, “I think she is America’s pop princess, and the world’s pop princess, and this just reconfirms it to everyone who doubted it.”
The impressive sales are also noted on Spears’s official Web site, with a not-so-subtle suggestion from one blogger: “Suck on that[,] haters.”
Lots of people are speculating that the negative outcome of her album last year will repeat today but its quiet unlikely. Last year, Spears’s album Blackout hit No. 1, but then sales plummeted as her personal life took a downward spiral. History will not repeat itself because her father, Jamie Spears, is in charge as her court-appointed conservator.
Spears will be starting off her national concert tour March 3, in New Orleans.
Circus is the sixth studio album by American pop singer Britney Spears. Jive Records, in collaboration with Zomba Label Group and Sony Music Entertainment, released it on November 28. The first single, “Womanizer”, became Spears’s first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 since her debut “…Baby One More Time”, almost 10 years prior.The second single will be the title track of the album, “Circus”.
